I Moved to Another Country

This is the first craziest encounter I had when I first moved to India. I was dating a guy over there and we were just spending time by the seaside when a couple of policemen stopped us and started questioning us, like where are we from, are we married, does our family know about us hanging out. I was really annoyed and asked them what was the problem. They bluntly told me I can't be outside with a man because I was unmarried and it's not part of "Indian culture". I tried to reason with them but they started talking about calling my family and putting us in jail under "moral reasons". But my then bf gave them money as a bribe to get out of the situation. Later, he told me they were just scaring us to get money out of us. Strange country.

That's not unique to India. Where there's money or power to be gained, there's corruption.

@Mamapolo2016 bribing is not the problem. It's the fact that a woman cannot be outside with a man. I got that a lot.
Well, as the saying goes, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."@JBird
