Vitamin D has been in the news again, with more people apparently being deficient in it. Perhaps it's just that more people are being tested for it. I was never tested for it or offered supplements despite a chronic illness that I've had for 17 years which has left me unable to walk, get out or get any sunlight except rarely for just a few minutes for most of this time. I was told there was a programme on TV recently where some people who lived self sufficiently grew their own food included mushrooms, which they dried in the sun (for preservation). They were the only vegetable that actually absorbed vitamin D in the sunlight so it contained more which presumably can get absorbed by our bodies, which is interesting. Even more so if you turn them over because they have a larger volume to absorb sun rays on the back.

Vitamin D is an awesome low cost addition to your duly ritual..

Much has been written and published demonstrating its value..
There's an interesting book written a while back "Devolution Rx by William Meller MD.." The book explores using the bodies natural immune system to battle illness. Vitamin D takes a big role..

I take 8000 to 10000 IU a day.. Very safe, I can honestly say I have not been sick since 2012 when I started the ritual.. I have researched its uses for other problems and there are very interesting white papers reviewing its merits..

I also take this amount per day. It was recommended by someone who had MS. I don't see any daylight currently with severe light sensitivity. When my levels got to high normal I went on a lower dose but decided since the last few months I've got less light overall to up it again.
Probably more of us could benefit from more vitamin D and I don't eat fish Except very rarely. I don't know if I'd recommend this amount to someone who gets sunlight daily though.
@amethyst1: From what I've read it is very helpful with MS and TM along with other Central Nervous System disorders.. You should try and read the book it's light reading and covers a lot of aspects around training your body to heal itself.. I will send you links to a couple of papers if you like..

@Majorlatency: I'm not sure exactly what the origin of my condition is as it seems to affect a few systems and no one really knows but I suspected from the start nervous system played quite a big part in it.
@amethyst1: If I may ask what are your symptoms?
amethyst1 · 36-40, F
@Majorlatency: most things you can think of. Extreme fatigue, dizziness, light and noise sensitivity, weak muscles, spasms, problems thinking and finding right words, memory problems, sleep problems, IBS, nausea, palpitations etc

@amethyst1: i had a lot of those symptoms myself

@ronisme1: I have had severe ME for 17 years, which is what causes those symptoms (well, no one knows the cause of ME, it's just made my ruling out other illnesses), and things like sensitivity to light meant I would not get enough vitamin D, and yes, as you know you can get those sorts of symptoms from that and other deficiencies too! I think my vitamin D level is ok now though. It was about a year ago anyway, and should be now that I've kept up taking it. (Did have a recent blood test, or they tried, but as with most times in the past, they couldn't get any blood!)
