I Love Steven Universe
I'm a huge fan of the show, I got into it sometime last year after the first Steven Bomb. I've been hooked to the series since I saw Rose's Scabbard, Lion 3, Mirror Gem, and then eventually the rest. It just has such a good story to tell, there's nothing quite like it upon your first time watching it. It's like an anime, but it's just not though. It's Steven Universe!
I simply adore how in the beginning Steven started as this naive, silly kid who had trouble using any of his powers, and spent much of his time doing kid things while the Crystal Gems were doing their own thing. Most really look down on it's earlier episodes, but I personally think it set up the tone of the show appropriately, while giving us some good Comic Relief from the early silly Steven. Now Steven is much more mature, can summon his shield at will, and knows how to control most of his powers. Furthermore, he goes on way more adventures with the Gems, and he's more a part of the team than he was in the beginning. For a coming-of-age story, this is a damn good one.
After rewatching the show many times, I believe it's important to Believe in Steven. Every promo the show had before it officially premiered said "Believe in Steven", and I believe it's important because there's nothing like Steven in the show. I also believe that he's capable of fixing corrupted gems like the centipeedle, I just don't know exactly how. But I really do think he will find a way someday, especially since we're told to "Believe in Steven" so much.
Anybody else like this show? What's your favorite episode? Favorite Gem?
My favorite episode would either have to be Mirror Gem, The Return, or Keeping it Together. I also really like some it's earlier episodes, like Tiger Millionare and Serious Steven. I can never get some of the tunes from that episode out of my head sometimes (The tune during the Steven and Amethyst montage, and Steven singing "We're on a magic treasure hunt, hunting magic treasure junk, something, something something!" in Serious Steven). My favorite Gem used to be Pearl, but now I think it might actually be Peridot. I used to not care much for her, but ever since "Message Recieved".... she really grew on me and I think she might be my favorite now. Either her or Steven, if he counts.
I can't wait for it to come back next week, we're finally going to see The Cluster! I wonder how the heck they're gonna get rid of it in 11 minutes or less......
