I Always Remember My Dreams

Being Nuked -

Standing in a parking lot on base at Kodiak Support Center, Kodiak, AK (yes...the one that was in that movie "The Guardian")

I'm watching people run into commissary going crazy and there's alot of commotion in the parking lot....people are frantic.
I grab someone and ask him, "Hey...what's with all the commotion?....why is every going crazy?"
The guy answers "Haven't you been watching the news?....Japan is getting us back for dropping the bombs"
I'm taken back for a second....What?....seriously?...I mean that happened a while back. I walk into the exchange and everyone is standing in front of the TV's watching the news. The news anchor talks about the United Nations getting involved. Trying to agree on a peace deal....but Japans Prime Minister won't have nothing to do with it, and states that Japan will drop the bomb in two days.
Two days!!!????? - I see everyone scurrying around buying supplies, batteries, canned goods, water....etc

I think to myself....screw that....I'm going to just leave the country.

So I go to the Greyhound station (if anyone has been to Kodiak, you KNOW that this is a dream!..LOL!)
People are camped out.....mini tents outside, sleeping bags, dozens of people waiting to get out of the country.
The line wraps around the building. A few hours later I figure out a way to cut to the front. Finally at the counter, I ask the nerdy kid who couldn't have been even 17, "How much for a ticket out of the country?"
The kid reply's, "One dollar"
"One dollar!!??...seriously!!??"
"Yes", he says
I reach in my pockets.....no change....i pull a couple of pieces of paper that are receipts but no green!
I'm thinking this is crazy.
The kid behind the counter says "Don't worry...I got this" as he pulls a dollar from his pockets and shoves it in the register.
"Oh my God...I owe ya!"
I don't go outside to the buses....I go upstairs to the airport! (remember...this is a dream)
The same situation is in the airport....hundreds of people waiting....the airport looks like a refugee camp. People sleeping, babies crying...etc.
I think to myself "Holy cow...I'm never going to get out of the country. But as I look to my right there's a door leading to the tarmac. "Emergency Exit Only - Alarm Will Sound If Opened" it reads.
Well...if it goes off what are they gonna do?
I go for it....press the handle and no alarm. Whoohoo!

I jump down the stairs and start running towards a 737 at the gate. I'm about 50 years from the plane when I see everyone inside the aircraft windows moving back towards inside the gate.
What the hell are they doing?
Then I hear the siren....the long "hi to low" pitch drawn out siren nobody likes to hear.
Holy S*&t!

I turn around and 100 yards in from of me is a white cinder brick wall. I'm running towards it and a bright flash is reflected off the wall.
I'm still running and I feel warm.....the warmth gets more intense....I'm running in slow motion......I can barely breathe.......my body bursts into flames.
I stop in midstide.....my breathing is labored. I'm struggling.....and my charred body fall backwards.

The siren dies down and people are coming out from inside the terminal.
I'm laying on my back with my arms still out as if I'm still running....still barely breathing.
A girl and her mom holding hands walk up to me. The girl looks down at me and says "Look mommy....he's still breathing"

And that's when I woke up sweating!

Note - I had this nightmare in 1988...still remember every detail ;-)
