I Have a Special Needs Child

So people really like hearing about Lucas so I'll post this story while he's asleep. I have another one I'll post later, it's a scary incident that happened that could of been a lot worse. But right now this one is kind of cute.

I took Lucas to get his dialysis treatment done one day. It takes like three hours for single round so he was watching super man. He loves super man and batman so much, I am always telling him he's super man cause he's so brave and strong for what he endures. So he's watching super man and he asks me why he doesn't have a cape like super man. ill type out the conversation below.

Lucas: why don't I have red cape daddy?

Me: I didn't know you wanted one. Would you like me to buy you one?

Lucas: No. I want you to have it.

Daddy: Oh really? Why is that?

Lucas: you my hero daddy. Daddy is super man.

I can't explain in words how loved and special that made me feel. He's so much braver and stronger than I am, but he feels so safe and loved with me he sees me as his hero. I won't lie I had to leave the room for a second I started to tear up a bit. It's always nice to be appreciated when you do so much by yourself, but when he said that it told me he's aware of what's going on around him and that made me happy cause even though he's brain damaged he can still sense things when their not happening directly in front of him and if you've ever been told your child will likely never walk talk or have a sense of awareness or be able to know what's going on around them, or anything like that you'll understand how it's little moments like that that are so special and meaningful for so many different reasons. I just thought this might be a uplifting spirit story for some.
