Yes, and it depends what the intimacy is about. If it's about truly loving someone, intimacy is a good construct for expressing that. But people can do all kinds of wicked things, and do them intimately. Beauty and value is the connotation of intimacy, but not the DEnotation of it. It's just a vehicle through which people do what they do.
