I Lost a Friend

So, I just need to get it off my chest. I had a best friend named Matt & at times he needs wake up calls from me when he’s wrong. I’m the one he goes to when he screws up. He has trouble taking responsibility when he’s wrong. Anyway, he got into a fight with a bus driver because he was late & kept the driver waiting. So, they got into a fight, he calls me ranting & I hear him out, give him coping skills to help deal with it. Now, keep in mind that I’m a woman of color & like most people of all race , take racism VERY seriously. I do not tolerate it from anyone. Now, This driver happened to be African American & called him out on being inconsiderate. Matt got angry when I called him out on it as well cause it’s true, he was wrong. He said something that made me mad, he told me that ( and I quote ) “ Black People Don’t Listen “. I told him to take a deep breathe & to not say stuff like that. He goes on, complaining about the bus music & that it’s too loud for him. I told him he’s getting of topic, don’t start picking on him or the race. He than made it worse by saying that black people like loud music & they all are loud & obnoxious people. That is when I got Mad. I told him to shut his mouth cause he’s being racist & that’s unnecessary & offensive. He told me that to shut up & that I should be a slave somewhere. I than told him to get out of my sight & walked away. Now, normally I wouldn’t be hurt but, I never thought I would hear this from someone who’s supposedly my best friend. He than made it worse by texting me something offensive from a white supremacist site. I told him that is the last straw & he just lost a great friend. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that he would say shit like that cause we’ve been friends for 5 years. It really hurts me to think that, deep down he’s a racist & it just came out now.
