I Believe In Telling the Truth

You have heard the saying that there is your version, my version then the truth, correct?

Sometimes it is not easy to be honest or truthful. Most of us don't want to get into the middle of things. We don't want to contribute to any problems or be accused of starting trouble.

I have decided from an early age to tell the truth. It doesn't mean that I rush or volunteer information, but if I am put into a difficult position as I recently was, I always take the high road and tell the truth. Sometimes our motives are questioned or misunderstood but it is up to the audience to determine who they are going to believe.

I find it is much easier to be honest. If you tell your version of the truth with complete honesty, it will be much better received than if you withhold information or lie.

You might not like my version of the truth, but every single morning, I can still get up and look myself in the mirror.

Recently, I was put in a difficult situation between 2 friends. One was lieing to the other. I could have kept quiet but it was bothering me. If I could save one person some heartache, it was worth it. I lost one of the friends but it is ok. It was worth it. My conscience is intact.

You made the right decision, for so many reasons. But the main one is your conscience. If you hadn't done it your conscience would constantly be there and that's not a comfortable thing. Even when you do the right thing there is always the voice of uncertainty that will be saying 'Could I have done this differently? Should I have done this differently?' You just do the best you can with the information at hand.

And I think you do a most excellent job of it. It's a very good thing sweetheart....

we can't let online stuff affect us and our moral compass. i believe in taking the high road regardless...thanks babe.

Those are difficult situations and none of us likes them, but you did the right thing. I'll often stay quiet rather than tell the truth or sometimes I'll tell a little white lie (Yes, you look great in that), but I won't lie outright on something important.

I can see why you would do that...in my case, there was no white lie. i had to be honest. and I am glad i was, even if i lost a friend..

It is a difficult call. But following your conscience is definitely the best way. As for the friend who lied...maybe if he or she presents an apology you will forgive.

he has a much bigger issue going on. It really was not my place to get involved except he was playing 2 women and misleading both. we have blocked each other and i hope he gets help.

And that it was the right one

Honesty is always the best policy. It is just learning when to be honest is the trick.

Truth will set you free.
akindheart · 61-69, F
it causes a lot of lost friends but that is ok...if they can't tell the truth, who needs them, right?
jjoe01
Well, unless you like to play games with little lies, friends don't lie to each other.
