I Want to Know What's Wrong With Me
Well, the biggest problem in the world right now is...
I spoke to my cousin last night. I was fishing for a problem in the world right now, one she might want to solve. She is full of passion, of drive and work ethic. And she is oh so very tremendously happy. She scores 85% on an exam and is disappointed, but not disappointed so much as simply wondering what went wrong for her that day.
So, I wanted to know what problems were on her mind right now, so we can guide her towards being able to solve them in the world. Well. What a surprise when she told me the answer to that question above!!
She said "The biggest problem in the world today is that people keep looking at problems outside themselves. Like global warming or politics. But nothing will ever change unless people themselves change. We have to look at the problems inside ourselves."
I couldn't have put it any better myself! It didn't help me find something to help her forge her own goals, but that's only because it's a relatively new idea without concrete career paths etc. So the work continues, to find what she will be most passionate about, and how she will be remembered in history books.
