I Have a Strange Fear

Fear seems to control our lives. Think back to when we were kids, we didn’t know what surviving was or why we even had to live, we just went with the bribes and threats we were maneuvered with daily. Different fears range from rejection, dealing with possible negative consequences, fear of being fired, fear of being left alone, fear of not being admired, fear of indifference, fear of pain we can’t control, fear of going to jail, fear of dependence on others and becoming a burden, which all ultimately comes together to the greater fear of death.

Humans are machines of desire. That is it. We want from the moment we are born. When we get what we want we smile, when we don’t get what we want we yell and get angry. Everything relates to this same reality.

Religion/Relationship with a Higher Power:

Do what is written God said, trust Him, and you’ll get a reward, if you reject him you get hell. From his point of view, do what he wants, he is happy, don’t do what he wants, experience his wrath when there are no more chances.

Work-place:

Do what your boss wants and follow their standard, they are happy. Refuse to follow procedure, you are fired.

Family/Relationships:

You have to be found to be pleasing, productive, and harmless or else you are sent to be fixed because something is wrong with you if you can’t be molded into a beneficial unit to society or those around you. Should you be displeasing, not bringing in money, or become dangerous (not convenient) you will be done away with. Think of family members you’ve had confrontations with. Just because you’re “family” doesn’t change the conditional nature of everyone.

While this is a hard reality to grasp, digest, and accept it can help to decrease the fear of death. Why? We realize that all there is to this life within ourselves are desires, and others simply want to mold us after their desires. If we don’t meet their desires we are negatively labeled and done away with. So there is nothing to lose in trying so hard to hold on when if there is one person who won’t negatively label you is YOURSELF. So be you, do what makes your heart feel passion, create art, express yourself, be yourself, write what you really think not what will guarantee your book to sell.

And remember, I understand the struggle of adapting to a world of money. Where people are looked at as costumers we want to sell to, instead of people with their own story, past, and desires. I understand how everything feels meaningless because we don’t have the power to fully satisfy anyone on earth, we only have the ability to calm our own minds by either focusing on the moment, or allowing thoughts that disrupt our peace to enter.

Decreasing our expectation of others on our behalf, can help. Movies, stories, and cliches have us thinking that someone has our back 100% and are broken every time we realize those who we defend the most, are the ones who criticize us the worst behind our backs. So expect nothing from everyone, then when you do get attention, a smile, an affirmation let it mean all the more.

Decrease the fear of death and what can come out is greatness, laughter, compassion, or at least greater amounts of it. This world is a conditional place where I either have puppets under me, or I am the puppet myself. I hate treating people like puppets, so I’d rather be a puppet as long as I have plenty of time to be alone and recollect myself to enter the stage of life. Shakespeare was right when he said, “The world is a stage, and we are merely players.” Have fun acting and never let others definition of you make you doubt the tremendously valuable and strong person that you are at making it this far, and for remaining you all the way through.

We are mere puppet playing our roles in daily life. First school life, then work-life and then kids etc.

I wish we lived in free world where there was no competition. I would have just roamed around on beaches, snow , mountains 😅
