I Have Acne
I've suffered from acne for almost 13 years. It's crazy. The sad thing is that it seems to be getting worse - not better. I first got acne on my face and back when I was 14, but last year (at age 26), it spread to my chest and cheeks, and this year, it seems to be spreading to even my arms and legs.
I took Accutane and doxycycline ten years ago (at age 17), and they're the only things that have been effective against my acne, but they stopped working when I stopped taking them. I also don't have health insurance, so I can't afford to try Accutane again.
I suddenly stopped growing when I was 14, and it was around that time that my cystic acne started. I've highly suspected that I have some kind of hormonal problem that's caused my acne and lack of physical development, but when I went to an endocrinologist, he didn't seem to think that the two problems were related.
Even though my acne hasn't gone away, it hasn't been all bad. My face seems to have smaller, less noticeable pimples, and my forehead has been the only part of my body that formerly had acne and has stayed mostly clear for years.
Still, in recent years, my acne has spread to places where most people don't get acne. It's like I can't have any clear skin at all. At least the new pimples on my cheeks, arms, and legs have been relatively small and unnoticeable, but still, I'd like to get rid of all my acne.
