I Hate That We Need Money to Survive

I like to daydream sometimes that I could start a coop with some friends, grow our own food, and slowly save up and invest in solar electricity and 'green energy' to the point where as a small community, we would be completely sustainable. No reliance on the rest of the world at all.

I agree with this experience but I never thought about it this way. How it would actually be

I think you'd just have to start small. Just growing a little food, and then as you get an understanding of how much exactly you can grow, and how much you can support yourself, stop buying some food from grocers. Work on improving how much you can grow, and start buying less and less food. Finally, when you think you can do it, you'd cut yourself off. No buying food for the year.
You'd save a whole bunch of money on food. Money that can be invested in solar tech. Slowly the coop would build itself up. The only true resource that you would have to pay for is water.

I have nothing on paper, but that's the general gist of a plan.

I can see myself growing my own food and cutting down on spending that way but I'm not so sure about the solar tech

Yeah, I kinda agree on that front. It's still a pretty early technology, so it definitely wouldn't be a coop's first priority.

I have this same dream. Maybe we could work together on it

I would love it if the whole world could be like this.
