Should it really take 2 weeks to create a methodology for a research paper?

One week's gone and I know mine won't be complete before next Sunday because either I'm slow, or that just happens the first time you take up a project foreign to you.

If everything was defined and only work was to be done then it wouldn't have taken long.

But because in work for research paper, applying your head for more than 4 hours per day just becomes unsustainable so in terms of hours put on actual work it doesn't take long but it takes a lot of random unstructured day dreaming and thinking to arrive at the right solutions which takes up most of the time.

So yeah 2 weeks is fine.
