her hands in prayer
claiming this wash
was too high to climb
she prayed she'd stay there
until her tears filled the banks
to aid in her rise

It is not tears but her wings that will help her rise.

Perhaps her wings got dusty from lying in the wash and they needed a good rinsing to fly again. @Sorrowfulgaze
