I Watch Too Much Television

and why I'm giving it up for a month

I'm often trying to move forward beyond my own road blocks in life, adding to the ones life has given me. I have noticed that as days will turn to months and I haven't achieved what I wanted, those turn into years and I grow resentful of the wasted time. Then I tally up all the time I have wasted on things such as television, things that serve as distractions from my own goals.

Distractions. Procrastination. Time. A Graveyard of dreams...

I'm still too weak to give it up permanently, but I'm hoping the siren call will quieten after a month. Self-control is like any physical muscle you train it long enough and it'll get stronger.

I don't watch much TV. When you stop doing something that's a habit or at least think twice or decrease the action it really makes you think. You could spend more time out and about or reading, learning or researching or learning new skills.
