I Cant Talk Very Well

It’s annoying cause it makes it hard for me to talk to others. Being deaf I can’t hear what I’m saying so I can’t tell if I’m saying something correctly. A friend in school who can hear wrote what I said and how I said it. And it was embarrassing how bad it was. So I avoid actually speaking

Don't feel that the problem is with you, the problem is with the attitudes of those who do not take the time to get used to the way you speak and learn to understand you.

I've said for a long time now that I think sign language should be taught in all schools as standard. I've met more deaf people in my life than I have French, German, or Spanish, so I think it would be FAR more useful.

You can still text though? It's hard having such a painful disadvantage but people are quite accommodating. Proper friends will understand that you struggle in a certain way and will work around it. You are a human being and you are no lesser than any of us. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and you are still just as valuable as any of us.

@Lilyharper That's good to hear. It's an unfortunate situation that you're in and I hope that it gets as easy as it can for you. It's a hard dynamic to have but the right people will do it for you.

Lou Ferigno, the actor who played the Hulk on the old TV series and who won many awards for fitness and body building lost 80% of his hearing in childhood due to ear infections. Some people thought it was a severe accent, but he couldn't hear himself speak very well. Still, he is someone to be admired for his many achievements- He plays a cameo in the most recent Spiderman movie as a security guard. He still looks very healthy and fit.

@Stinks It takes courage to tell the world about difficulties you face. She's a bigger stronger person than you are. You are not big not clever.

@Lilyharper I am addressing that to him although he won't be able to read that because he has set his age at 16-17. Unless of course he has access to multiple accounts.
