That’s usually how that works . I had to do push ups ! My adoptive daddy was a retired marine officer and I had ptsd from being abused all my life . He only barked orders . Never touched me unless it was for a hug ... and he always said “ permission for a hug” ! But mom’s will dust off your Britches for an attitude 😉
