I Love My Morning Coffee

I was looking forward to making a pour over coffee and having it with toast. I opened the new, organic, crunchy peanut butter I was eagrer to try, and slathering some Bon Maman strawberry jam over it always makes it better.
I set the kettle to boil and placed two slices of rye bread in the toaster. It was then that I noticed the filter holder was in the dishwasher, which was in mid-cycle. So I attempted to pour the hot water over the coffee grounds while I pinched the filter between two fingers. Aye-yah! The water made a hole through the filter and all of the grounds ended up in my mug. "Maybe if the water cools, I will be able to pour it through another filter into another mug", I cleverly thought to myself. Then it occurred to me that my bread had been in the toaster for quite awhile. Aye-yah! One of the kids had set the timer for bagels. Frozen bagels. So my toast was way past 'slightly crispy' (how I like it) to '3rd degree burn victim'.
I sighed. Maybe my ground-filled coffee was now cool enough to pour into another mug. Aye-yah! Hole number two! It gave me a new appreciation for the importance of the coffee filter holder.
I took a spoon and scooped out as many of the floating coffee grounds that I could. I settled in with my daily paper and read the news. After a few stories, my burnt toast and gritty coffee didn't seem such a big deal after all.
