I Don't Get Offended If a Man Holds a Door Open For Me

A friend and I were debating on this today after a gentleman had held a door for us, how we felt about it, both agreed we don't mind at all..............but then almost at the same time we remembered this.

Our friend Heather used to sit in her car until no men were by the door or she'd stop and pretend to look at anything if at a store they had on sale outside or in a discount bin outside. She couldn't risk any man holding a door for her.

One time an employee of hers held the door and she could not avoid going through it. Funny thing is a few minutes later her husband was beating the crap out of her behind their business and he didn't care she was pregnant at the time either. Less than an hour later it was on the local forum, and before the day was over she was on there denying what happened and saying she fell out by the dumpster and he was helping her up.

Why am I telling you this............. because it was nothing more than door holding that set him off that day........and there are sadly a lot of men like that.

So next time you go to hold a door for someone, keep this in mind. There are some crazy guys out there who are jealous and rage filled who think nothing of beating up on their wife or girlfriend, but mostly are too cowardly to come after you.

And whereas it makes us lady's feel special when someone holds the door for us, we aren't incapable of getting it for ourselves and you might be putting someone in danger by holding the door for her.

@OWTFWN: Yes for many those laws would have got the guy prosecuted, but yet the woman would have already suffered......... now then let's say the woman did as you suggested and said "Thank-you but my SO would not like it." in that case, he would have beat her for speaking to the guy in the first place it was no-win. You never know what another person is going through sometimes even glass houses have hidden levels.

@Virgo79: I don't think I can make the decision for anyone else............just pointing out a fact that some might not be aware of. There were always be gentlemen who hold doors just how they were brought up.
Wow I don't even know how to comment to this.
