I Smell Skunk
Breathe Deep Of That Beautiful Scent... Oh what a lovely heady fragrance fills the air around me as I drive through the country. I guess some unfortunate neighborhood dog or cat had a run-in with a skunk. As it permeates the windows I quickly roll them down, slow down my car and let it fill my nostrils and surround me. A wonderful mix of not only potent sulfides and nasty thiols but sweeter, muskier aromas that stand out above the other scents, for us lucky few who can appreciate them and their intoxicating, alluring and relaxing effects.
It's a bit of an acquired taste perhaps. Skunk spray is certainly an overpowering aroma and I don't blame people for widely disliking or even hating it. After all it's a natural defense, nature's pepper spray, that's the idea. To me, however, it's a very addicting, spicy smell that really stimulates me in all the right ways. It's why I've taken up getting sprayed intentionally in the last year or so, to get that lovely aroma full force, up-close and personal as long as I can. If my friends and co-workers balk then so be it, I certainly deodorize before I go back out in public, and thankfully it doesn't get 100% of it which gives me time to enjoy myself for a good week afterward.
