I believe that if one chooses to have kids, it's your DUTY to give that kid the best life, the best opportunities you can.
Not lavishing them with material things or letting them get away with murder- I'm talking about making sure they learn as much as possible about being a kind, responsible, sensible human being.
My own parents never bothered to make sure I was safe, listened to, and enriched mentally. They had me, then basically I was on my own. They never tried to introduce me to culture, provide me with anything beyond a basic small town education, and they never ever invested in anything for me. No college fund, no savings account, no educational trips, no classes, no after school activities. Nothing. I was basically a housekeeper and live-in nanny for their other kids. They never taught me real life skills, like taxes, car maintenance, or business sense. I was just a servant to them.
If you're gonna have kids you owe them more than that.
