I Am Algerian

People have funny ideas about my country. They think it’s like Iran. But it so isn’t! It’s so lovely. And we live in Africa. But we have snow in winter. A lot where I live! And we have school and college.

I am Algerian too, Tlemcenian by birth and heritage and Amazigh. My father's tribe is partly Touareg.

The country has a long way to go in terms of civil rights though.

Mar7ba bik hna ^^. Nti mfayan?

@Miram No it's a bit hard to explain. Basically you can pick any country in thr world and play through history, having to deal with all sorts of stuff. Anything from warfare to diplomacy to resources and trade and religion to name a couple. It's a thinking persons game, and incredibly fun if you like that sort of thing.
Anyway i was playing as Tlemcen in between early 1500's to about 1800 in a recent playthrough, it was challenging but fun. :)

@Axelerator Zayyanid Kingdom and the Turks later. Cool

@Miram Well done. And yes normally, but given that i could affect the game a lot by my decisions Tlemcen was still proudly independent by the end of it, instead having been allied with the Turks for centuries.

Most people don't look too deep. The historical French influence probably helped in that last regard i expect. You learn French in school as well right? :)
Miram · 31-35, F
@Axelerator Multilingualism always existed in Algeria.

@Miram Oh i wasn't suggesting that the French control was all good, just that they might have had schools erected.

@Axelerator Only genius level students were allowed in schools past sixth primary level. That means by the age of twelve, most were not registered at any educational institution. Colonialism held the country back in all aspects of life.

It sounds lovely. Love to see you write about it sometime. We are different but much the same without the labels. 😊
