Turns out my roommate didn't turn off the stove like she thought. She had accidentally left the soup on the heater and the dial was almost turned off but not completely, and she forgot to put the pot away. So the soup slowly cooked for hours until it had burned. The stench was horrible and filled the entire house. The fire alarms hadn't gone off so we found it when it was too late. We must remember to get our alarms fixed so that this can't happen again. This is what became of her precious pea soup:
The smell is almost gone after a few hours of airing the house out but that was the most god-aweful stench I've ever smelled. Now who wants a bowl of this yummy stuff? 😂
