I Hate Injections

It isn't the shot in the arm that I hate the most, it is the dental and other types of numbing shots that bother me.
Whenever I am at the dentist and he removes the pre-numbing medicine (which makes little to no difference to me) and he/she reaches for the syringe, I CRINGE! I tense up and close my eyes. I can better tolerate the pain if I don't SEE it coming at me! I relax once the initial medicine has entered my tender gums.
Just the other day, I had a bothersome wart removed from my chin which was getting in the way of my shaving close enough. I was in the chair they gave me an aluminum plate to hold on to. Once the alcohol was applied, I KNEW what was coming next so I shut my eyes. The doctor was really gentle with it, unlike some of the dentists I have had. I reopened my eyes but still didn't wish to see the process so shut them again.
AS a teen, I had a high fever due to a horrific sunburn I experienced and the doctor prescribed an injection of a medication that looked like skim milk. She asked me where I wanted it, and with the room full of others being treated, I said I wanted it in the arm. There was a cute little five year old watching my reaction.
As the plunger relieved itself of its liquid, it was so thick that my eyes blacked out for a second. That was the most painful injection of my life.
I have also had flu shots and Tet. shots that stung like crazy. I think I only had two flu shots in the past six years!馃槺馃槀馃拤馃尅

Well, I haven't gotten to that place in my life. I have been lucky. Sense loosing my wife in 2011, I have not been taking care of myself as far as eating properly, though I am not quite as careless as I was two years ago.
How long have you had it? Do you use the pen or syringe? I have a friend who thinks she can eat anything and everything as long as she used her pen three times a day. She eats two ice cream sandwh. at once as well as other fatty and sugary foods. She is also 150 pounds overweight.
I feel for you since for some diabetics, it isn't their fault. Their bodies just don't produce enough (or is it too much) natural glucose. Please educate me on it but be nice about it, please.

@gregloa do you give the shots to yourself of does someone else give them to you? I could never give a real shot to anyone for ant reason nor would I have the guts to give one to myself. I see the needle and tense up!

@UncleJlovesbrazil I鈥檓 not diabetic. I don鈥檛 take shots. My ex wife is. She takes three shots a day. You get used to it. You have no choice. She sees a diabetic dr regularly and always follows his instructions with her diet and exercise so her A1C numbers are excellent as is her blood sugar. If you鈥檙e diabetic you cannot eat sugar and you have to limit your starch intake. There are plenty of sugar free deserts. You will acquire a taste for sugar free food. You cannot eat whatever you want and then check your blood sugar and decide how much insulin you need according to how high your blood sugar is. That will result in extremely high A1C levels and high risk health complications. Keep track of your blood sugar levels and show them to your dr. He will adjust your insulin dosage if necessary. Only take insulin per your dr鈥檚 instructions. Of course carful and strict diet is crucial. You must maintain a consistent correct diet for this to work correctly. If you do this then your A1C levels will be low and your dr. will be pleased and proud of you.

I a m glad you are ok.
October was my bbirthday month and since I work in a hospital, a blood test an TB test is mandetory.
My blood sugar is barely ok.
My LDL is good but my HDL isn't where it should be.
My tries are a tad high, too.
I also had a reaction to the RB syrum. Not sure what that means.
I turned 60 a week ago today and realize that I need to watch myself. I am virtually alone in the world without anyine to look after me.
Thanks for your concern.
