I Got The Cane Or Slipper In The Sixth Form

My wife and several of her friends were caned in their first week of sixth form. They knew they were not allowed to smoke on their way to or from school but thought that, being in 6th form, they could get away with it.

They were wrong and they all got six of the best.

Yes. I remember being involved in a snowball fight with two other boys in the lower sixth form. We imagined we would receive a reprimand from our form master to whom we were reported. We were told to remain in our class room in the afternoon break. The form master arrived. He told us we had set a bad example to lower formers. We admit ed this apologetically. To our surprise he opened his brief case, produced a plimsol and said he had no alternative to whacking us.We formed a line and bent over as in earlier years. We were further surprised and relieved only two whacks each were received .Although our bottoms were sore we expected more at least four.
It was our last slippering at school, although one of my friends got the slipper for smoking on the bus from the same master. He was an excellent teacher, but nobody would risk falling out with hi

@Flower11 Amazing how many people - teachers, politicians, etc etc - say they have no alternative. There is always an alternative.

I agree. There is usually. But people often fail to see it. Broader thinking is required.
