I Got The Cane Or Slipper In The Sixth Form

My wife and several of her friends were caned in their first week of sixth form. They knew they were not allowed to smoke on their way to or from school but thought that, being in 6th form, they could get away with it.

They were wrong and they all got six of the best.

Smoking was an automatic caning offence in my school whatever your age. Fortunately I can say that I never ever smoked.
@Rebecca54 D @Rebecca54 Have you gone to any Reunions and observed whether the no smoking policy was observed throughout life? Six cane strokes is a rather serious "consequence" for doing something that perhaps even the caner herself did regularly! The hypocrisy might have been justified if it worked to protect the students. Just wondering if it did.

@Alfred22 I don't think my Headmistress smoked. I do know some of my friends have smoked although some have given up in later life
@Rebecca54 To quit smoking is a good idea at any age!

I do enjoy all the reminiscing about the cane. Do you keep one around these days just for sentimental reasons?

@Alfred22 No - I am afraid not.
@Rebecca54 It might be a bit awkward to explain to guests! Of course, you probably do keep a pair or two of slippers!

Slipper was automatic penalty at my school for smoking. Head's slipper - a black gym pump - was called The Black Prince. He taught history. Fortunately never encountered it.

@Flower11 Glad you were spared!
