I hate the lack of feedback from one word messages. It makes communication either difficult, or impossible, and it is exasperating. What do others think and what is your experience on this subject?

@Lorieta You are right, unfortunately the answer to your attempt to communicate is either not interesting, or they are not interested. It leaves you not knowing how to continue, let alone develop your relationship.
