I Love Muddy Socks
An Afternoon in Socks
It rained heavily all day yesterday, so the warmth and sun of today was a welcome change. The ground was still saturated and the grass was wet, and every bit of exposed dirt here was wet and muddy and warm from the sun. I couldn't resist but go out in my Under Armour white crew socks. There were a few things I had to get done in my back yard. I needed to weed the muddy garden and put cages around the tomato plants for one thing. The warm very damp grass felt great on my feet on the way to the garden. The soil in the garden was soft and warm, and I easily left half inch foot prints wherever I stepped. I was careful not to step on the plants. The contrast between my white socks and the dark soil was striking, and every now and then I checked my soles for mud. Yes, they were coming along nicely! After I walked all over the garden and got all of the weeds, it was time to get the tomato cages out of the garage. They were over in the corner, so I had to walk over the filthy floor in my already muddy damp socks. Of course, I picked up every bit of grime my feet came in contact with, adding a la<x>yer of black on top of the mud. On the way back out to the garden, I walked over the grass again, and the dampness further smeared the mud and grime in. It was pretty hot, i must admit! So between the garden and garage I went for about an hour until I was finished. Then I checked plants along the muddy side of the house. My feet felt great, and my sock soles became so caked with mud that they almost glistened. It was a great afternoon!
