I Hate Homework

I used to hate homework as a kid. Then I always was a bit lazy. I did have to bend over for the paddle more than once at school as I'd forgotten to bring it to the lesson or (more likely) forgotten to do it at all. With the help of some very diligent teachers and two caring parents I got into college but I still didn't like doing the work. Thankfully I then married a wonderful man who kept me on the straight and narrow through college. When I became a teacher, though, I felt a bit of a hypocrite for insisting kids did their homework!

Did you ever paddle students for not doing their homework? (Or for that matter other reasons?) At least you could have done so knowing how it felt!

I never got away with missing homework so why should they?

@Candice: Valid point you have there. So you must have given them paddlings just as hard as the ones you got!
