Will you buy locally grown/raised when possible? Though it be more expensive.

I wish I could find reliable sources and afford to, most of the stuff at the farmer's market is way overpriced and some of it is not even local, imported from other states....I would love to buy farm eggs, meat, milk to make cottage cheese and yogurt, etc....or have a place in the country to raise a grass-fed beef to butcher, my own chickens for eggs and meat, and be able to fish for fresh fish, and have a veggie garden, fruit trees, etc.

Ever try making your own? We've done cottage cheese me yogurt. The cheese is a little too much work.

@Rarebreed: We did on the farm, it is dry after you hang it up and let the whey drip out...you have to add cream to make it like what they sell in the stores. I would have to find milk without chemicals if I ever make it.

...and that's the challenging part!
Everything possible, yes, which is most of our food.
We go to the farmers' market each week, and eke that out with what we grow at home.
Actually it's always cheaper than anything in the supermarkets or grocers - because it doesn't have to be trucked long distances or pass through middlemen.

You have it good. We have to pay more at farmers markets only because they know they can get it. It's worth it to me @clothos:
@Rarebreed: Yep. It would be worth it to me too if I was in your situation. It's the principle. But also the food is fresher and better quality.

I always have, when it's in season. The fresher it is, the better. If I can go to a pick your own farm, I'm all the happier.

Me too. Farmers markets opened today here @Serenitree:
I love fresh produce even if it costs more its worth the extra to me..
Rarebreed · 51-55, M
Yes. Me too. @Starshine:
yes but its more difficult to source sometimes.
Rarebreed · 51-55, M
It sure is. Our farmers markets opened today @cutiepi23:
For me it's cheaper. But not available until late summer

I do when it's available

I wish I could afford it, instead I'd rather buy my own seed and try to grow my own. I'm in the early stages of doing this now. Just two cherry tomatoes I grew from seed today. I do aspire to be a permaculture farmer 👨🏻‍🌾

No, I don't care where my food comes from

To each their own @Jackaloftheazuresand:
