Did you ever order something online, and when it arrives you wonder if you need new glasses? Or if you are going cross-eyed?

Someone here on SW told me that it is NOT corn and beans that form a complete protein, but beans and HOMINY. Hominy is just corn kernels that have been soaked in lye to remove the outer layer. (Black olives are black because THEY are soaked in lye, so...not as gross as it sounds). Somehow the outer layer prevents the body from absorbing regular corn as part of that protein chain.

I decided that since I enjoy adding corn sometimes when I make chili, I would probably enjoy adding the hominy equally well. With meat prices going up so much...worth a shot, right? And I was finally able to get 2 whole pounds of dried black beans...

I looked all over the internet and could only find canned hominy at ONE online grocers. I knew I had seen it among international foods. It was expensive...but I have been price gouged so often recently, I no longer react to sticker shock...and it worked out to a little more than $5.00 a can. I distinctly remember checking the size of the can in the photo. 16 ounces is what I thought I saw. WRONG!!!

I don't know HOW I could look right at this and not see that it was NOT 16 oz. EACH CAN weighs over 6 POUNDS!!! And now I've got 6 of them!!!

Then it happened again!! I thought I was ordering two normal sized jars of spaghetti sauce...and I received TWO monster sized jars!!! Four pounds each!!!

Looks like I'll be making a food donation really soon...they are so big I had to put them under my dining table!!! I am only ONE person!!!
