Setting the back yard on fire while barbecueing.

Tried to make fudge without a candy thermometer....ended up with a pan, a spoon stuck firmer then Excalibur in the rock in some substance harder than concrete with the consistency of hardened epoxy. All went in the trash.
@bowman81 Oh, no ! Excalibur ! 😅

The first time I ever cooked chicken, I didn’t know the meat had to thaw before baking. It looked good and felt hot on the outside, so I served it. It was the grossest thing I’ve ever bitten into🤢

@BearDownChicago my mom flew in with a fire extinguisher and put it out. I know someone who had the most embarrassing cooking fail. He's the lieutenant of the fire department and burned some cookies which filled his house with smoke. He called the station asking them to bring this device that clears smoke out of the air. For him they decided it would be funny to show up with the firetruck and sirens blaring.

Haha. That's hilarious.

When I was about 7 years old my mother would heat twinkles - or some kind of pastry with filling- inside a microwave and give it to us. Well one day we had a baby sitter. Who didn't know how we liked eating the pasties. I wanted a warm pastry, so, I tried heating some pastries by myself, the pastries ended up catching fire and my baby sitter screamed and grabbed the tray out the microwave and threw it in the yard.

First time I cooked. Made macaroni and cheese. And the pot boiled over everywhere. Granted I was 8 and doing it all on my own

I got distracted while making baked spaghetti, and the next thing I saw was the fire department saving the day !! 🤭

There’s a Filipino snack I love called puto. When I lived in Daly City, a neighbor used to bring some by every holiday, kind of like small cakes. A friend gave me a quick recipe that uses Bisquick, and it was never authentic looking or tasting.

@bijouxbroussard aahahahaha they slipped you the fake cake
@1GHOST Believe it or not, a lot of folks did use Bisquick here as a go-to when they couldn’t find the traditional rice flour from back home. I just couldn’t ever get the consistency quite right. 😅
