Real Life Horror Story

I am currently reading The Night The Defeo's Died -subtitled_Reinvestigating the Amityville Murders. On Nov 13th 1974 six members of a family were murdered with a high powered lever action hunting rifle in the Sleep Village of Amityville (on Long Island about an hour's drive from NYC). According to Suffolk County Police and a court trial the lone surviving Defeo (the eldest son) acted alone but this book gives a different picture. Involvement of the older of 2 daughter's and the 2nd oldest child was involved in the murders including murdering her kid sister and 2 younger brothers and one of the son's friend was also involved. One their was gunshot residue on Dawn's ( the older daughter) nighty. And their were 2 types of bullets in the mother's body one from a 38 special and one from the Marlin 35 calibre
rifle. (it is very uncommon for murders to switch weapons in their act)
Furthermore, people who knew the older 2 kids came forward about Dawn discussing plans to kill her family even trying to get one of her male friends to help kill her parents which he did not wanna get involved with. The father (Big Ronnie or Ronnie Defeo Sr) was not only a wife beater but abusive to the kids including crossing the like on that fateful day punching the youngest child ( 9 y/o John) in the face hard enough to draw blood and he also uttered a death threat to his eldest son (Ron Defeo Jr) so he and his sister Dawn could understandably believe it was kill or be killed.
They also believed their mother could have stopped the abuse with 1 call to her dad who was also Big Ronnie's employer at a car dealership. But she was too much of loyal wife and not enough of a protective mother. Hence the parents to an extent brought the tragedy upon the family! Oh and another thing contrary to the movie Murder's in Amityville Ron Jr and his sister Dawn did not commit incest

I still don't know how they were all shot without waking.
