Part of the reason imo that bad things happen to the good is because being good is viewed as weak by many people. As a result, good people become easy targets.
I think a lot of people who are weak tell themselves that it's because they are good. The two do not go hand in hand. Just because you do good things doesn't mean you're willing to let bad things happen to you.
