I Support Body Positivity
100%. I wasn't always this way. For years I'd look at photos of girls smaller than me and pray to look like them. It was never easy being bulimic. But the reason I'd like to write today is because I want to share a story and I hope this will get a few reads and feedback.
So, I recently put up a photo of myself on Facebook taking a mirror photo in a midriff crop top and semi low rise baggy jeans. All you can see is my stomach which I'm very proud of. There were nice comments, but there were also the ones that really got under my skin. "Pull your pants up" "that's too much" "what are you trying to do"
.... I just couldn't help but think, wow. You see someone go through something as horrific as an eating disorder and were able to have the strength and courage to pick yourself up from that and continue on a healthy lifestyle and are able to feel comfortable with how you look for once in your life, just so the people that claimed to support you during those rough times go on fueling the body shaming machine once more. It breaks my heart that no one can live in confidence within their bodies. I will proudly show off my tiny waist. I will proudly show off my legs that help me to walk, to run. My arms to swing and lift. I hope this all makes sense. Why can't we all just love our bodies and be positive?
