I Love Soup

I was talking with some coworkers at lunch today and discovered they are some weird, sheltered people.

One didn't know that french onion soup had onions in it, and the other had never heard of potato soup, and thought that it would be served in a potato skin.

I just don't know what to make of this.

Are they fried onions, like French fries. Does it come with ketchup?

@JustEd No, they're usually sauteed in a pan and mixed with a dark broth, then topped with bread and melted cheese.
