I Am a Proud Parent
My 16yo rang today. She was so annoyed. The supermarket had scheduled her on to work on Thursdays. She can't work Thursdays at the supermarket as she works at the newsagent. We talked about what she wanted or needed. She couldn't work Thursdays and she didn't think it was appropriate that she be requested to find someone who could since she told them ages ago she couldn't work Thursdays. They needed to give her a shift and not just take Thursdays away from her. When she was clear what she wanted I instructed her to call them and attempt to talk calmly with them, but remember the outcome you were after. I went back to work. She rang me back about 10 minutes later. She had called them, had the conversations and was scheduled on Fridays instead.
I'm so proud of her and I told her.
I'm sure most 16 year olds couldn't do that. I couldn't even do it in my 20s.
