I Want to Hike the Appalachian Trail

I am a 20 year old college student at the moment. It was always my father's dream to hike that trail and he is getting kind of old to do it now. I also like hiking and I would like to hike it for him. I think that once I get out of college I will take a summer off and thru hike the trail from Mount Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia

Wait. My aunt hikes professionally, and she is 60. Why can't you and your father do it together?

Oh my father is turning 69 this year and is not exactly in the greatest health. He is also still working. I will ask him if he wants to come along, I just don't know if he will get the chance.

@TheDarkness: Don't forget that you won't be able to carry much and you will go days between being able to charge your phone. Sounds great in theory, but difficult in practice.
