I Miss My Brother

This is a true story:

When I got out of the service I came home and my wife left me. I hitched a ride to California with a dude I met in a bar. I was living in Florida at the time. No one knew where I was. I had no cell phone and no credit cards. A week after I left we were staying with one of his friends on Venice Beach. The phone rang and my friend told me it was for me. I thought he was lying.

I answered the phone and it was my brother. He told me our mother was sick and he sent a taxi to pick me up. The taxi came and took me to the airport. I had a ticket waiting for me.

I never knew how he found me and he would never say. A few weeks after he died I found out he was CIA and we never knew.

I learned at that moment they can find anyone they want.

Instantly reminds me of Orwell's 1984.

My condolences on the loss of your brother.

@Unlearn I only watched the movies. I'm the only person on earth that will admit they like Tom Cruise. How may books are in the series?

@SStarfish 100% true. The thing is the guy I hitched a ride to LA with no one knew him. It was a spur of the moment thing for a 21 year old. I've never heard anyone give me an explanation that makes sense.
