Would you have ever wanted the same job or kind of job that your parent(s) had? [I Have a Career]

Did you go into the "family business"? How different is your career from what your parents' careers were?

My dad has always worked in finance, including as an investment broker and a venture capitalist (he is retired now). Neither career nor the lifestyle involved with those careers has ever appealed to me. I love my dad but he knows I will not be going into a similar line of work and that I am preparing more for a career in education. (My mom has not worked since before I was born; she does volunteer, though).
No. They neither made very much money but I’ve been told by many that know her, my mom is one of the hardest working people they have ever known. She could work circles around me in her line of work...They never signed up for handouts but made their way in the world...

My mother died early in my life 5 to be exact. My Dad has been a welfare abusing, worthless abusive person his entire life. Whatever you choose to do I wish you the best in your endeavors. Me.. I have a great job with good benefits. Work for the Local Schools. Will retire from there.

My dad was the superintendent of 2 of the largest bldgs in downtown Cleveland. My mom was a bookkeeper 4 an advertising agency. I fix cars now and then, not working full time
No way. My mother was a high school teacher, and my father had a plumbing business. I suppose I could have taken that over if I'd wanted to.

No. That's why I got an engineering degree.
My mother was a teacher and then assistant superintendent of schools. Pop was an architect and later taught at the local college.
I was a schoolteacher and then an instructor for a corporation.
So teaching seems to be the family “thing”.
