I Got An Interview

Its a phone interview and I'm scared im gonna miss it. They did give me many times to choose from. None of them are ideal since i work those hours .

I suggested another time.
Do you think I'll get passed up?
I only have lunch time to do an interview if they dont agree to the 7.30am that i proposed and I'm scared im gonna miss the call.

Did you explain you couldn't do the times they suggested because you would be at work? I can't speak for others, but if I were hiring and the person I wanted to interview told me that and proposed a different time (or better, gave a few other alternatives), then I would work to make it work for him/her.

@LookingForIt987 I said " would I possibly be able to do my phone interview at 7.30 am? I currently work 8 to 4.30. She did send the request at 8am, I was working and didn't see it til 1pm. It's 5 and no word back. Guess I'll wait til tommorow. If I get no word back, then I'll go ahead and do a 12 pm and just not have a lunch?

@iamnikki If you don’t hear back via email, can you call? If not, reply to the email with a simple comment such as, “Since I haven’t heard back from you, I just wanted to follow up and see if we can find a time that works for everybody. Thanks!”

Like I said, they like you enough to want the interview. They should be willing to work with you a bit to accommodate your schedule.

Good luck!

@LookingForIt987 Hi, I've been corresponding with an HR person. the 7:30 am got declined. I proposed a time of 12 noon , since that is my lunch time and the only time I have to take a phone interview. She sent me an email invite immediately with the time of 10:00 am?? Can she not read or what?

How does this sound?

Hello ____,

Sorry to bother you again. I received the interview invite for 8/15 at 10:00 am.

I will be working at that time and can only interview at 12:00 pm.

May I interview at 12:00 pm on Friday, 8/16?

@iamnikki Yes, I think that sounds fine. My only suggestions:

— Offer more than one day if possible. Especially because it’s not uncommon these days for companies to have “summer hours” that effectively have people leaving at or near noon.

— Close out with something strong, like, “Thank you for working with me to find an acceptable time. I’m excited for the opportunity to see if I’ll be a fit at X.” (Where X, of course, is replaced by the company ;) )

Good luck! You’re gonna kill it!

@LookingForIt987 Thanks, but it's already been sent. Since we are going back and forth, anything sooner than friday wouldn't give me time to prepare and get and 'okay'

@iamnikki Sorry I didn’t get back to you a bit sooner. Good luck!
