I Am Sensitive

I am sensitive. And I am a man. And my parents ask me why I'm not "more of a man."

They get upset when I get upset at their insulting jokes.

They get upset when I smash my foot or hand and tell me to "man up."

They get upset when I can't lift heavy things. Excuse me, but I'm not that strong.

They get upset when I don't take initiative in things, be it school, work, or small everyday things.

They get upset when I get "too emotional." Come on, would you rather I be a robot?

Good thing I don't care about what they think about this.

Mario, you obviously do care what they think, otherwise you wouldn't have posted this. So maybe your parents have never had an 18-21 yo male in the house before, and they don't know how to converse with you. Maybe they have some insecurities or issues in their lives that make them speak that way. Over time, as you achieve accomplishments, they should have more respect for you, unless they have a jealousy problem. I hope things work out better for you.
