I Want to Be a Housewife

In some ways of thinking, [i]Mother[/i] is the most essential role in all the universe. To be a housewife also implies the presence of a stable family unit.

It's not for everybody, and that's fine.

I don't get why being a housewife is not an option. I get it if you are in a backwards society that still lives in the age where it's the mandatory option, yes rebel against it! But if it's a woman in the western world that she can be whatever she wants to be, why would it be shameful and disrespectful to be a housewife? What if you are a person who's dream was to have children and give them the best care and attention possible, would you feel more fulfilled by having an executive job dumping your children on daycares and babysitters and parading your employement status like some kind of achievement? From a man's point of view i'll tell you this: if you die today nobody at work will care in a week, you'll be replaced in days and the company will go on like you never existed. However if you die your children will never forget you. I'm not advocating for women becoming housewives, no, i'm advocating for the right of women to be whatever they want to be and not feel pressured to live their life to prove a point that was proven over half a century ago.
