I Lost a Loved One
Today, our family lost a truly beautiful soul. Uncle John, I loved you more than you could ever know. And i'm gonna miss you so much! But I feel a sense of peace knowing that I got to say goodbye and knowing that you are no longer in pain. Saying goodbye is never easy and I struggled so much to find the right words to say. As I talked to him for the last time, I was crying so much that I stumbled on my words. Even though he couldn't speak he reached for my hand and squeezed it and he open his eyes wide and looked at me. I knew right there in that moment, he didn't have to say anything at all. I could see the emotion in his eyes and I knew he could see the same in mine. Our eyes spoke for us.
Even though my heart is breaking, because every part of me wants him here, In a way I'm happy because he's not suffering anymore and he's been through enough pain for 90 years. John was the strongest man you could ever meet. He didn't say much but he was a truly humble man who loved christ with all his heart.
40 years ago, John was in a car accident with his wife carol and my grandpa Robert, my grandma Janet and my dad. Robert was driving, John was in the front seat and carol, Janet and my dad were in the back. Robert had a tooth knocked out and a dislocated hip. Carol had a huge gash on her head. Janet had a broken tibia and my dad had two sprained ankles. And John had 47 bone fractures, both of his legs were broken above and below the knee, His elbow was smashed, his chest was crushed, and his pelvis was fractured. He was in the hospital for a year. After that accident he was physically never the same.
However through all of this he was still able to create wonderful memories. He served in the Army Air Corp, worked with leather, played guitar, he even sang in a barber quartet on the radio and was a ski jumper. And through everything good and bad he got to spend 64 years with the love of his life. The love that Carol and John had, was the kind of love that is so rare. I don't know how she did it for all these years but even with her own health issues of not being able to see or hear very well she never left John's side.
John, I miss you so much already... However I know your with grandma and grandpa. It's not gonna be the same without you. But God wanted you home♥ Love you John, Goodbye for now... wait for us, we will see each other again one day! RIP
