I Dont Want to Be Like My Parents

More so my mom.. she keeps trying to tell me what to do, rather than simply state why she wouldn’t do something. If a decision of mine doesn’t fall in the “norm”, she will practically say anything and everything to get me to change my mind rather than just be supportive of me. She’s very manipulative. Well, she tries to manipulate me, but after how many years of listening to her nag and attempt to tell me what to do, I’ve had enough. I’m not taking it anymore. So of course, she sees it as being defensive rather than just sick of her trying to tell me what to do.
I love her, but I definitely don’t want to be like her. I don’t want to do to my kids what she does to me.
