I "Got The Belt" When I Was A Kid

My Grandad... I wasn't usually a kid who got into trouble but if I did and I was at my grandparents house he would take off his leather belt from around his waist (he wore braces as well) and then fold it over and pull it tight to make that whip cracking sound....he only had to do that to put the fear of God into me!

No it's a very vivid real memory...he never hit me with the belt, he just made the whip cracking sound. I am English so don't know whether it's an American thing or not.

I got chased by a Oma waving a wooden spoon.

waving that spoon sent every grandchild in the house out in to the yard or back inside ...depending on what mischief we thought we would get ourselves into.
