There aren't opportunities for young people to get a start

It's either food service or retail. I'm not even joking. Doesn't matter if you go to college or not this is what you are stuck with because there arent opportunities for people my age. I'll be stuck working at this pizza place either til I die or I kill myself which ever comes first.

Even for receptionist jobs they want all this experience and I don't have what they are looking for. Even for the most basic ass jobs they want all this experience and knowledge of things I bet I can do but can't because nobody will give me a chance.

This is bull shit.

I guess it depends on where you look. I've taken a part time job in public transport to supplement my pension. It's a role that a lot of people would consider beneath them, but in almost five years I have seen many young people using the job as a stepping stone to better and brighter futures.

I agree. it's horrible out there and I think young people feel the brunt of that as they want to get started but can't..

I would add that whatever age you are they all seem to want experience now.. and how can you get that experience if no one lets you try... but yes, again it applies even more so to young people

@Adaydreambeliever It's dumb because the people who put all the rules in place are the same ones saying how lazy people my age are. We arent lazy we just can't get a leg up due to the rules you put in place.

@TempuraShrimp ahem.. when you say *you* I am sure you don't mean me! And it's not even all older people.. as I said.. I've faced the same thing relatively recently... no one would let me get out of a job working in a kitchen.. but I kept trying.. and kept trying.. a tiny ledge allowed me to use that to step into something else. But make no mistake it was hard and I faced the same lack of willingness to consider me without experience. .everyone does...just young people tend to face it more
