When young a favourite quick dessert was a sliced banana with milk rather than cream, sometimes a sprinkling of sugar too. Or with custard or ice-cream rather than the milk.
Still enjoy these now, though I don't add sugar.
Some years ago now I visited Crete for a holiday with friends. One day we encountered a road-side stall selling fresh bananas we realised were grown in big polytunnels nearby. They were smaller than the 'nanas we usually see in the supermarkets, but delicious - surprisingly juicy, and much more richly flavoured.
