I'm Just Saying

I rarely eat bread but when I do, it's always organic brown bread. Well my dad, who I am visiting, always buys the processed white bread and now I understand what foreigners mean when they say that American bread tastes sweet. I thought the white bread of my sandwich would just taste like bread but I can actually taste the sugar in there. It's kind of odd. Maybe I'm overthinking things but why put sugar in regular bread (well it's not really regular since it's processed, but still)? America really puts sugar in everything.

You need a bit of sugar to kick-start the yeast and get the dough to rise. The trouble is, processed bread is not given enough time for the enzymes to work, so it just tastes sugary 🙄
