I Like Minimalism

few years ago I found a quote about minimalism

I thought: Hey! I like this
and went to search more about this idea of simple living
COLLECT MOMENT NO THINGS
UNCLUTTER YOUR LIFE

The thing is, I grow up with not much stuff. My parents had no money for expensive toys or clothes and sometimes I was bullied because of it.
When I was around 10 I ambraced it. Nature gave me all the fun I needed and I was busy with camping, woodcrafting, treeclimbing and survining games and too much stuff and pretty clothes made you kinda weak and spoiled in eyes of my friends.

When I was 18 I moved first to capital city and later to west europe.
I struggled with money, but in different way. There was always some tax to pay, insurance for everything... uffff
And for everything here, even for a place to climb and have fun as a kid, you have to pay.

The Netherlands is a good country to live, really.
Only you need to find out how. It took me sometime.

People here are not greedy or spoiled. But stuff is everywhere. There are all those things and possibilities and choices.
My children know how to handle this pressure and I admire it. They know what they really want and that so many shiny toys they don't need.

And also have to say the idea of minimalism helped us.

I always gave them choice:
we buy this toy or we have money to go to playgroundpark
we buy this toy or we go for a movie
we buy this toy or we go to swimmingpool

They prefer experiences as I do.

Difficult to do when you have hobbies that require stuff to do them :p
